150th Anniversary John Bull Train Model
Orvis
A very special edition antique model train, held exclusively for Orvis customers in commemoration of our 150th anniversary. Entirely handmade, this exceptional 1:32 scale engine is an authentic model of the "John Bull" and tender, America's oldest surviving locomotive. Made in England in 1831 by Robert Stephenson and Company, it was the first locomotive made for New Jersey's Camden and Amboy Railroad; hence it's number #1. The John Bull was removed from active service in 1866 and is now on display in the Smithsonian Institution. The museum fired the locomotive up in 1981 for its 150th anniversary, making the John Bull the oldest operable steam engine in the world. This outstanding model train is a worthy tribute to the engine's craftsmanship, made by the world's finest model train maker. Every detail is exactly right, even down to the scaled period-authentic railroad bridge. Model train size is 19½"L x 4"W x 9"H; overall display case measures 24"L x 7"W x 11"H. USA. 150th Anniversary Orvis Glass Minnow Trap
Orvis
Handblown and first launched in 1885, the Orvis Glass Minnow Trap sold briskly for more than 80 years. During World War II, the disruption of the saltwater fishing fleet by German U-boats saw a rise in the trapâs orders as traps were used by freshwater fisherman who fished for a living or for sustenance. During the War, the trap played a crucial role in the Orvis Companyâs survival. Now, you can own a 150th Anniversary Orvis Glass Minnow Trap. Crafted right in Manchester, Vermont, the trap is handblown by an artisan who uses traditional techniques and tools that date back to 12th-century Italy. Heated to over 2,000ºF, molten glass is blown into a mold of cherry wood created by a local woodworker. Finishing touches of the signature funnel-shaped opening and 150th anniversary emblem, are then created by hand. A local metal worker crafts the blued, perforated cap and stand. Useful for its original purpose, or for a handsome, sporting or decorative addition to your home or office. click here for more information... |
